Got on the water at 5 and started fishing around the mouth of the Duwamish. Between 5:30 and 6 the fish were biting all around. I saw more nets getting used that half hour than the previous 18 hours I had spent fishing the bay this year. We had no luck with the kings though, and at 7 we hadn't seen a net for an hour, so we headed to Jefferson Head to try for silvers.
Jeff Head was hot! Barely got our lines in when we had a double header - a silver and a pink. another 90 minutes or so and we had our limit of four fish. We nailed them on a green glow squid behind a green glow flasher at 70 feet of cable, and a green glow coyote behind a green delta diver at 40 pulls.
We got back to the W Seattle ramp, and the fish checker had 35 kings and 15 silvers for 45 boats. Seemed like catching was as good as it has been all year for E. Bay Kings. But be early or go home empty handed - the bite has turned on for a brief period before 6 AM each day I have been there.
