Fished out of Shilshole in the rain with my daughter Megan. It's been so long since it rained, all my rain gear was at home. Good thing for the top and canvas!
Started just out from Shilshole trying for silvers. Fished a Grand Slam Bucktail behind a Hot Spot and a Kingfisher spoon behind a mini-hot spot. Trolled towards Jeff Head. Caught a pair of small resident silvers about 2.5 pounds each, but Megan thought that was fine, so they hit the ice box.
Moved down to Dolphin for the tide change. Good bite from about 8:00 to 10:00. Switched the mini hot spot to a fish flash with a 5" Kingfisher spoon. Ran the poles at 50 and 65. The first hit was a double. Megan grabbed the first pole and got a small silver to the boat. I grabbed the second pole and fought a 15-ish pound king to the boat. Handed the pole to Megan so I could net the fish and the fish managed to break the line on the downrigger clip still dangling in the water... I want that spoon back! Oh, well. About 20 minutes later we got a good hit on the bucktail at 50. I fire drilled the boat and hooked the clips to the cable and Megan did a great job bringing the 14 pound buck chinook to the boat. It was bigger than her laker from Chelan, so it ups her personal big fish!
Had lunch and wandered around a bit on Blake Island, then back to Shilshole in the sunshine! A great day!
