What a beautiful day. Calm and not too cold. George and I hit the water about 10:00 at Shilshole and headed for Jeff Head. Had a fish on before the second downrigger was set up. a shaker. we were fishing the east side towards the northeast corner of the bar. Had a nice hit that popped the downrigger, then it felt like I had gotten hooked up with the ball. Then it came loose and reeled in - a fish head! Damn sea lions. We ended up feeding them four decent fish before we gave up. Three of the salmon heads were still on, and I unfortunately did hook one of the sea lions and we had a tug of war before the hook worked free. So we took off for West point. Caught a ten or so salmon, several about 20 inches. Followed by a seal, but he didn't mess with our lines. Then we headed for Shilshole and caught shakers until we got tired and quit about 3:30. Probably caught 25-30 shakers total. Fishing mostly 110-130 feet throughout the day, using chartreuse and white Coyote spoons with herring juice. Can't believe we saw only 4 other boats all day. Great time to get on the water if the weather cooperates!
