What a great day it turned out to be! The forecast was for wind, rain, and cooler temps. Wrong. We had calm seas, breakthrough sun and wonderful mild temps. I went fishing with my friends Tom and Uncle Wes. We launched out of Shilshole at about 6:45am. The standard rigs - DR on the corners and a Deep Six on the center pole. Flashers and hoochies with herring strips were the main setups. Started fishing off Meadow Point and I hit a 4 lb silver at 35 ft on the rigger at 7am. A nice start to the day. We continued to fish until 7:30am and then decided to head over to Edmonds.

We arrived and dropped our gear and within 5 minutes it was BAM BAM - a double for Tom and Wes. Two identical silvers in the boat, each a solid 8 lbs. This was at 8am, depths 45 and 55. We had another hit but lost the fish at 8:40. After that things went dead. At 10:30 we pulled up and raced back to West Point to fish the 11:30 low tide. Started with another quick fish right as we arrived. 65 ft on the rigger. Then at 11:10 it was BAM BAM- a double! The first fish came at 65 ft on the rigger. Wes grabbed that rod and I grabbed the center pole to reel it in. As I was reeling the second fish hit hard. Unfortunately Wes's fish came off. We had a couple small shakers after that and called it a day at 12:30. Five nice silvers - not a bad morning's fishing for a day that was supposed to be miserable but turned out to be one of the better days I've had with my good fishing buddies.

*Editor's Note: No bananas were harmed during this fishing trip.
