Struggled into my waders and fished for surf perch off the shore for an hour or so, managing to snag two; imagine my surprise! The duo measured in at 12" and 16". Used spinning gear with 12lb. test, 2oz. pyramid weight on the end of the line with #6 baitholder hook dangling 12" off a three-way swivel, and 1 inch pieces of cut herring (use shrimp for heavier surf; it stays on the hook better). Just look for the riptide channel and plunk the bait about 20 feet out along the sides... These fish are great baked in white wine and herbs in foil over an open fire with a baked potato on the side!
