Arrived around 1:00 pm and fished only the west end of the lake. I've fished this lake twice before and had success only once late last Fall catching and releasing what looked like a 12" Brown trout. This time, I had several hits on an bead head olive woolly bugger with one hook up. That one got away before I could bring it up. It felt quite strong though. The bites lasted for maybe an hour and were happening where the sun was warming the water. Chironomids were hatching sporadically, and I targeted those areas for a slow troll from my new float tube. The fish were certainly in the shallows. I plan on trying this lake again when the water warms a little more. Temperature must have been no more than 45 degrees. After four hours, my fingers and toes were numb. It's harsh when you gotta go, and you can't unsnap your wader suspenders. Tight lines!
