I had a little bit of spare time so I went back out to Hayden to try for some more Kokanee. I got to the launch at noon and I wasn't the only person with fishing on the mind as the parking lot at Honeysuckle was full. Fifteen minutes later I had the lines in the water. I was using my usual set up of either a sling blade or a Macks's dodger with a smile blade hoochie or a wiggle hoochie. I had two lines on the downrigger and two lines a hundred feet back with 1/2 ounce of lead on the line. I didn't get a bite for the first hour and then I got the first hit on the weighted line 100ft back. It was a nice 14 inch Kokanee. For the next hour I stayed in the area and caught 4 more Kokanee including one little guy that I would have let go except that he swallowed both hooks on the set up. They all came on the same pole and set up of a silver sling blade and pink hoochie tipped with maggots. Just as I was getting ready to pack up and head home my downrigger rod went off and I brought a nice 16 inch Cutthroat to the side of the boat. He took the wiggle hoochie and with one hook in the side of the mouth was an easy release back to the lake.
