So actually this day started at American lake but never got the chance to fish it as the story will tell but did end up here with some success of sorts!

So Fish dawg contacted me yesterday for some intel on fishing American lake and I mentioned that actually I was thinking of hitting it Saturday too! So we worked up a plan to meet up early and do some pre-fishing before he went to pick up his passengers- I got to the float plane launch about 6:45 and Bryan cordially helped me put Tin cup in the water!

We motored off on our way but when I went to push start my trolling motor got no response! The electric tilt worked fine but I remembered the last time out on lake WA I ran over my line and it wrapped around the prop- so hopefully I didn't screw things up on my little work horse kicker!

Not to be deterred quickly I hatched up a plan B as I headed back to the freeway and that was to go grab Tin cup JR and take it out on the big lake to see how it would handle a bigger body of water! Got home and transferred my gear over to the smaller boat and raced to the Atlantic City boat launch!

I was on the water and fishing by 9:30 so not too bad after how the day had started! Headed south towards the mouth of the Cedar working one of the new brads 2.2 mini cut plugs stuffed with tuna accompanied by a moon jelly RMT sling blade with an ounce and quarter of lead. Made it down south without a bump so turned back north towards the south tip of Mercer and put on kokabow spinner tipped with pink gulp maggots and put it back 100'.

As I was approaching the big white house on the west side of the island, my rod buries into the water and it's fish on! Love that take down when not using riggers! This fish went airborne and ripped some line off the drag before slowing coming closer to the boat; the only problem with long lining is the extra length added with weight on so was a bit more challenging to net as this fish wanted nothing to do with me making 2 or 3 more runs before finally getting her in the net! Dandy fish headed for some future smoking!

Unfortunately that was pretty much it for the day but was very pleased with how the boat handled the water and was blessed with some really fine weather today for a change. On a funny note~ I am just getting used to the new boat and trailer so as I got it off the water noticed it did not get on the trailer correctly- so backed it back down into the water but went a little too far so now the boat went sideways! A nice gentleman helped me straighten it out but as I was pulling it back onto the trailer, stepped off backwards off the gate of my truck and yes, into the lake fully submerged! Only hurt was my pride as I got up laughing but was surprised no one on the dock really noticed but i did smell some sweet smelling smoke in the air which might explain the lack of attention of anyone around haha!!

All in all not a bad outcome to the day but wish I could have shared the day with Bryan and vets down south but saw they had some success today so was pleased to hear that! Stay safe out there and see you on the water!

salmonbarry have to ask is that your boat pictured in the report if it is You have the same set up as I do 12feet open top kicker motor and down rigger ect. although I don't see it, anyway Your reports for that lake are by far the best source of info for those fishing the lake . I would very much like to meet up with You out on the pond soon, maybe pick your brain and show some the gear I use & see what ya think You may think its an over kill But like Toni wanafishalure says it takes a lot gear to catch fish I think it's the right gear my self , You seem to find the good combo time after time that in itself says quite a bit I have been trying to get strong enough from the heart & back surg I had end of last summer don't to much problem just launching bum leg lose of mussel trying to regrow itself The video from xmas on Sammamish You Mike and the rest of the crew not to mention the star of the video , Ya the seen of the fish box kinda tells the story don't it , gotta love it .
hope to see you soon Skippy aka greenboater

Thanks guys!
@ greenboater- thanks and yes I have quite an assortment of options to throw at these critters ( no such thing as too much gear haha!) and sometimes it's just a lucky guess; but a lot of it is trying to figure out what depth they'll be cruising and what they may be feeding on! Yes that is my little boat and you can see a better picture on the Angle lake post or on the forum. I'll shoot you a PM next time i am heading that way and we can 'hook up' for sure- happy to share at least what has worked for me!
