This lake has been my Fall Season nemesis. Though I haven't posted my numerous recent failures, I think I've grown close to figuring something out. No, no fish taken, but I did have a brief hook-up on an interesting technique I read of a long time ago. You see, I've been working the shallower water for some time to no gain. However, this time, I decided to work the deep water with a full sinking fly line with a woolly bugger. What I did was pay out at least 50 ft of line and let it sink near vertical.. Once down, I proceeded to kick back in my float tube. This drew a solid strike. Unfortunately, the hook didn't set well enough. Sadly, it was too close to sunset for me to spend time working this section of water. My suspicion is that the water is too cold up top, so the fish are hanging out deep at the thermocline. I hope to have another shot at this before I have to head out to sea on another ship job.
