Arrived at the lake around 1:45pm with my brother and got the boat and gear set up, ready to go. As soon as we set the lines in the water, doubles almost instantly and threw those fish on the stringer. I'd say in about 45 minutes we had 8 fish on the stringer and lost just as many. We were using Elgin Fishing God's Tooth spoons in the Frog, perch and brown trout patterns worked the best. Fished for about 3 hours and managed to hook 42 and lost right around 15-20 and finally limited out with our 10 fish. Along with not keeping the other fish hooked, it was an awesome day on the lake! Trout season is coming along pretty quick and can't wait to start hitting more of my other favorite trout lakes! Now it's on to Kokanee and Stevens should be producing. Tight lines everybody!

I was there later in and the bite was good to start with but tapered off quickly as the weather changed and it got colder after a pretty warm day.
I tried the Elgin lure myself for the first time but in Blue Silver and Pink Silver. The Cabels that I got them at only had a few choices and had the Frog in my hands and put it back! Darn! I did ok with the Blue Silver tipped with a Gulp Maggot and a couple slightly larger all around, but not the holdover size.

Can I ask a few questions? First, any weight Split shots added to them? I tried no weight, bee bee size and slightly larger.
Next, what are those Blue rods?

Thanks for the report......oh, and I saw a guy fly fishing doing very well also.

TMBob- I ran no weight or split shots, just a snap swivel and 4 feet of 4LB fluorocarbon leader to the God's Tooth spoon. Also there's quite a few people that use the maggots I don't, just the spoons by it self with no scent added. As far as the rods go, I was using the Velocity blue glass rods, I had just recently switched them over to my trout fishing and have never been happier and its a blast! Great for Kokanee and Sockeye as well.

Thanks for the info. I did use a no split shots set up, but not for very much time after only one fish. My set up was the same other than a bee bee split shot and color of the Elgin.

I did much better yesterday with a Trout Magnet/Slip bobber set up and found a few larger holdovers too compared to all smaller ones when trolling.

Those rods, would they be good trolling a Mag Lip for larger fish?

Yes these rods would do great for trolling maglips. I've tried the maglip in this lake once and lost about 2- 2 1/2 pound holdover with the same rod and I'll tell you what, the rod was in half! Lol

Was the tip active enough to show the Mag Lips action? I like to read the action of these lures for judging speed off of my St Croix Avid 7' UL tip.

Yes the tip is very active, no doubt you can see the action on the tip of these rods or any Ultra light rods out there.
