Needed to get out of the house and wet a line. Feeling a bit too optimistic about the chances of some early spring lake fishing, but totally worth getting soaked just to say we went. Hoping for some largemouth or some leftover trout from last year's plant.
Took a friends boat and put in at 0800 hours. It was pouring down rain at first light, but seemed to let up by the time we motored across the lake. Water temp 46 degrees, which I'd guess to be pretty cold for any largemouth to be active.
Fishing the side of the lake closest to 101, threw a few plugs, spinners, and jigs towards the reeds and retrieved them at different speeds and actions. No success. Other guys in the boat fishing with night crawlers, no success.
Moved to a deeper section in the middle of the lake. I let bullet sinker down with a little ball of powerbait. A few minutes later hooked up and reeled in an 8" perch. That would be the only fish of the day. Rained off the lake by 1130. Glad to at least wet a line, looking forward to some warmer weather to get these lake fish active.
Thanks!
