OPENING DAY! I went out in my small rubber raft with my dad and 10 y/o brother for some traditional opening day action. Every year we travel to Howard for the opening day fishing, it tends to be less crouded and have better quality of fishing. Reading the paper Sunday it said the average number of fish per fisherman was 2.9 however I think it would have been much more if people were keeping the fish, I saw quiet a few trollers letting them go and fly fisherman as well. I myself was pitching a 1/8 Oz. Silver magic bullet lure and finding good success, I only kept 1 of 7 or 8 or so fish I landed and lost a few others I hooked. My dad and little brother were using powerbait and did exceptionally well, the fish seemed to be biting soft often being hooked in the lip and we were able to release them, we ended up quitting and going home w/ only 5 fish on the stringer for the smoker. They ranged from 10-12" and were good fighters.

My dad, little brother and sister went back to Howard Sunday (I stayed home sick :[ ) They didn't do quiet as well as the day before only landing 3 fish in about 2 hours or so, the fishing really dropped off, but it was a nice sunny day and they still enjoyed themselves.
