Lake is 99% ice free with water temps 40-43* by the time I left about noon. When I launched there was one other boat on the water, when I left there were seven, guess I'm not the only one with cabin fever!

I only had four areas I wanted to target and was able to hit them all. No bites, no bumps, none spooked. I always find it interesting when I see that many boats on a body of water and no reports? My source tells me it was about the same amount of boats last weekend too.

Just a couple degrees and maybe one more moon phase I guess. I think I will fish the next two weekends on a lake with better structure to fish. Terrell has cover up the wazzoo but it's like a big cereal bowl when it comes to actual structure. Need more transition banks and steeper drops to really be able to zero in on spots holding fish. I fished some wood and the few rocks I know of and two decent bottom changes and no dice.

Felt good to be out actually fishing though! The morning sun gave way to clouds and I drove through a snow flurry on the way home near Lake Samish. Doubt I'll be back up north that far until maybe mid-March or after a couple decent sunny days.

At least I saw 2 fish following my crankbait a week ago. About 3 to 4 foot of water. Smallie about 1 1/2, and probably a trout about 2lbs. But nope, no bites the 2 days I fished in Feb. Didn't go fishing in Dec, and only 1 crappie and 1 perch for the 2 days I fished in Jan. In Jan. it was 38 degrees. In Feb. it was 43 degrees.

I've tried for bass in some smaller Lakes in the snohomish area with nothing. Not even a perch or crappie. I can't wait to hit Terrell this spring. I really appreciate the updates b8! Saves me alot of driving. I'll be posting at 1st sign of fish around here. Tight lines!

Thank you. That illustrates my point perfectly though. Sure it's fun to post when you catch em, we all like that! However, there is still PLENTY of helpful information to share on any trip to a lake! There's so much more to this site than just the look what I caught aspect. I would have loved to have seen ice conditions reported, water temps are always helpful, water conditions, algae blooms, level of fishing pressure and lots more that can be shared in a report. I'm always happy to share information, just an observation is all. Not every trip is successful but every trip could be productive from an information standpoint :)

Keep trying glad someone is getting out. I was debating tomorrow going somewhere that also has trout...try for bass troll for trout. Be nice to get back out there. By the way earliest I ever caught a bass was in February and latest was in December...but I was living in 1997 in Dover, Arkansas...so it wasn't cold but for one month out of the year. Never got a big one there 18" on buzzbait was biggest...did have one hit my buzzbait go to my left and keep going...he snapped me right off on 8lb test and never saw him...(so had to be 10lbs plus! ha ha)

Unless there was a nick in your line, then it could have been a sub 5lber? lol. I'm sure it's rusted out of his face by now...

Just bustin' your chops James, nothing personal! I just like to put the fish's welfare before my desire to prove how light of line I can catch them on is all. Do your thing, just get out there, someone needs to hurry up and post a 2017 largemouth so the juices can officially get flowin'!!!

I went out and tried Fazon a couple weeks ago before the last cold snap but no bass or trout wanted to play. It was cold and wet but like you said it was nice to just finally get out on the water and go fishing. Hopefully the next time out I'll have something to report since it seems like spring might finally be here.
