First time out Ice Fishing ever. My son and I caught our first fish through the ice and it was a ton of fun.
I could not find any ice augers at any local stores and the ones that I found online had delivery dates more than a week out. So we took the chance that there might be some open holes or someone else out there that would be willing to let me borrow there auger to drill a couple of holes.
We got lucky and found an area on the lake that had 6 holes already drilled with little to no ice over them. We cleaned out the ice and started fishing. Didn't get anything for a while. My son had a small bite and that was it.
We moved to a couple of the other holes and I got a hit but missed it. Then WHAM! I could not believe how hard the hit was. I was fighting a pretty good sized fish on one of those little ice polls. I get mine on the ice and my son starts screaming "Fish on"! They were nearly identical about 14inch. We each got a couple more small ones that were released.
So we only got two nice fish. We spent some good time together and had a lot of fun. :) Going to have to do this again.
