Went for a drive out to Sportsman Warehouse in Southhill since I had never been in one before and brought along my gear to try out Tanwax. After a painful drive up Meridian I found my way to Rainbow RV and paid to fish off their dock. One guy there had 2 nice fat Bows about 14" on his stringer when I got there. I asked the gentleman in the store if casting does any good and he said, not as good as still fishing with bait.
Not knowing the area and the fact that bottom fishing seemed to be the main method to catch these fish I did not know what to expect. I put on my heaviest Kastmaster, a 1/2 oz Gold to get the lure down to the bottom were the fish seems to be. Not much going on casting way out so I thru one down the dock line letting it reach bottom and slowly retrieved it in when bam, I hooked in to a nice stocker. I was very surprised to say the least as an really was not expecting much action at all.
About an hour later, I hooked into another fish that I lost at the dock as my hook came of the Kastmaster. My guess is that I did not close the eye enough as I replace the trebles with a Siwash hood barbless. A few cast later I hooked another one but this time my knot failed me as the fish made a mad dash to the surface with my lure still in its mouth but not to my line. What a rookie I am.
Overall, I did pretty good as I was the only to catch fish while I was there and not with the standby setup.
