Got a late start this morning and didn't launch until about noon. Had two in the boat within 30 minutes! It was calm and sunny and the water had risen even more, the concrete launch is now submerged! Acting on a gut feeling I started fishing shallow along the launch road and right in the corner where it turns back east near a laydown log I got the first fish. I saw the whole thing too, which was pretty cool. Sub 2lber, as my lure came near the end of the log and over a stick I killed it and watched it start to fall, out shot the bass and away went the lure so I set the hook, dang near on top of him when he hit it.
This would remain the theme of the day. I didn't touch a fish deeper than three feet! I tried jigs and flipping with no luck but did spook a couple along the shore in the grass, I imagine if I had more time to really pitch the shoreline cover and pick it apart I could have picked up a couple more.
Talked to a few nice fella's at the launch on the way out, thanks again for the catch and release sticker Larry, and as for the other two, I will see you guys again I'm sure!
Water temps were 53-54 degrees and again, the water level was up at least another 1-2 feet since last week! Trout were rising everywhere.
