After intending to go to Roesiger last weekend, I finally made it out there today for the first time. I've been wanting to check this one out.

I started about 8am, decided to try the bottom lake first. I ran my standard gear, Mack's 4in dodgers, 18 inches of leader to a green Doc Spratley and an olive Woolley Bugger. 1 1/2 ounces of lead on 1 line, the other off the downrigger.

Within the first few minutes, fish on. Maybe a 10 inch rainbow. Released unharmed. From that point on it was one right after another of fish as small as 6 inches, to maybe 11 inches on the largest. Released all fish unharmed.

Decided to head to the upper part of the lake. Got up there, and did not mark many fish at all. Got into 2 smaller rainbows, released both, and that was it. Decided to head back to the lower lake. I will say there was lots of surface activity on the upper lake. To me looked like Kokanee by the way they were surfacing, but I can't be sure.

Got back to the lower lake and was immediately back into fish. Ended my day with maybe 20, all released. I don't think anything I caught was over 12 inches. I've been spoiled by Goodwin I guess. I wish I would have brought my Kokanee gear with me. I would have liked to have seen if those were indeed Kokes I saw surfacing.

I did switch both lines to a green Doc Spratley, I got very little action with the Woolley Bugger. They definitely liked the Doc Spratley more.

Hi JoshH!
Nice to hear from you and hope things are well. Great report and thanks for your continued reports on Goodwin. You still have it dialed in, awesome. It's great you had success on a different lake, great info for all of us. Meaning to respond to you earlier but have been tied up so great timing with this submitted report:)

Was into so many fish, the flash banding on the fly in the picture is coming off, yet the fish didn't seem to care so I never even bothered taking off the shredded up fly.

May I ask what pound test you use for your mainline and leaders for those trout? Thanks.

I use 12lb mainlines and 10lb leader. I find better action on the fly off the dodger with heavier leader. Sometimes i will bump it up to 12lb leader. I dont have issues with the fish being line shy.

JoshH thanks.. I use 10# mainline and 10# fluoro for kokes with riggers and dodgers, but I mainly flatline with lighter line for trout. I may try your technique next time.

I admit I also go heavier because I fish Goodwin frequently, and while I have yet to get into one, I have seen 8lb+ rainbows pulled out of there. Call it "just in case" insurance :)
