Where have all the walleye gone ?
Fished Potholes today weather was part overcast clearing by mid-day. Water temp at transducer was mid 50's. Got on the water about 7:30 AM and fished the area North and East of the State Park. After an hour with no action moved to Goose Island and worked the area SE of the island, between the island and the dam, near the rocks. Nothing not even perch.
I used slow-death and smiles in various colors as well as some perch Rapalas plugs. Trolled at .8 to 1.2 mph.
Have recently had the same experience at Moses Lake.
Last year at this time I was consistently productive.
Any suggestions?

When I saw a new Potholes report, I thought, 'Finally!'. But your experience is no better than mine have been. The fall 2015 survey of Potholes and other nearby walleye lakes indicated maybe a small downturn, but nothing like this. At first I thought a glut of bait spawning kept them full and they were just taking it easy through the summer heat. A fall trip of mine there didn't even get me a bite. It's like they aren't there any more. I have no ideas, myself. This year's fall survey should be starting soon, but the results won't be out for a while. At least then we should have some idea of whether there's anything left or if they have just been masterful at avoiding hooks. I'm hoping it's the latter, but afraid it is the former. Thank you for taking the time to register your trip.

Try jigging with Snap Raps, Jigging Raps or a nice paddle tail swim bait in deeper areas where you can find some bio mass on your FF. Little smaller presentation fished slow sometimes will turn on the walleye when nothing else will. That's been my experience anyway.

Thanks to both of you. My better=half is starting to JONES for walleye and has me on a mission. I will try jigging, though I have never been very successful at it. I do mark fish within 2-3 feet of the bottom and on the backside of dunes and structure that I generally assume may be walleye, but what I tried never got a reaction.
I may also try Banks, though it is a longer tow . Have either of you had any luck for walleye in the Wanapum Pool on the river?

Try deeper. Don't be afraid of 70 or 80. Even 100 if you can find it.
