Fished Upper Goose Lake for Rainbow Trout after seeing "Good" likelihood for Rainbow Trout & Walleye on the WDFW website.
We fished the bank off the point directly west of the end of the boat launch. We were on top of a nice ~20ft cliff edge. It was absolutely gorgeous and we kept hearing the blast of hunters' rifles in the Wildlife Refuge. We fished ~12:15-17:15 catching 7 Rainbow Trout. Temps were probably in the 50s (can't remember), mostly overcast, and with frequent drizzles. Mosquitoes were a PIA, even with bug spray I still caught 3 bites, 2 through my clothes!
For the Rainbow Trout we fished slip floats to about 8 feet deep. There was a huge drop off underneath the cliff edge and after the sun came out for a lil bit we could even see our bait at those depths. For bait we were successful with Power Bait Eggs in Pink/Orange/Chart "scales" (looks glittery, from Sportsman's). Buddy was getting nothing on his white & bubblegum eggs (normally my go-to bait), so he switched up to Rainbow Power Bait dough and caught a couple fish towards the end. 4-5pm was pretty dead with almost no bites at all. During the day I missed probably 10-12 times my float went under because I was using my 2 pole endorsement to entice a bass or walleye strike.
With my 2 pole I used the second pole for bass & walleye we tried crankbaits (hard to use on the cliff side) and then I tried a jighead with a curly tail, 0 bites =(
Also tried inline spinners but kinda had the same result with being too high causing the lure to head to the top of the water column much too quickly.
