Drove out to Cottage lake yesterday to fish for a few hours. The lake had a toxic algae warning and the water definitely showed signs of it. Water looked like a bowl of pea soup with clumps of algae floating in it. Since my husband and I drove all the way out there we decided to go ahead and do a little fishing anyways. Trolled for trout for awhile without any luck. Decided to try a little jigging. Caught a few perch and my husband caught a nice crappie. All were released to live another day.

What did you use? Yeah that lake has an algae bloom that turns toxic every year sadly..it is too bad cause the cutthroat are way fun to catch

For trout - used a orange wedding ring with gold spinner tipped with worm. My husband used a orange wedding ring with silver spinner tipped with a maggot. In the past we have had a lot of success with this set-up on this lake. Trolled on the surface, below the surface, 5 - 15 feet deep. Also tried a wooly bugger in green/brown on the surface. No takers.

For perch/crappie - used a green/white jig tipped with a maggot and a clear yellow speckled jig tipped with a worm. Jigged slightly off the bottom.

Strange you did not get any troat. I got all kinds of hits and fish on was 4 total for trout but only one got into the boat. The bit started kicking in when.the wind came up more intense. I was using a green kokanee style dodger the ones with littel fish eye and green in color that with a joes fly brown wolly bugger tipped with worm. One trout that snapped the line was on plain worm with a power egg. I also caught a crappie and slme perch. I used weight but all trout hits were on surface. Most hits right near noon ..which was moonrise I think or near it. I got a hole in my craft though so no going out for a bit
