This is a two day report. Fished Saturday for a few hours early in the morning and several hours Sunday morning. Launched at Kenmore. Pouring rain all morning. Dropped gear just south of the barge anchored in the north end of the lake after marking a number of fish. We used standard sized flashers since Three Rivers was sold out of the 8 inch model. Used 8 inch chrome dodgers and in line flashers as well, lures were everything from hoochies, mini hoochies, spoons, beefed up wedding rings with spin n glo's and smiley blades, varied depth after marking fish anywhere from near the surface to over a hundred feet down. No luck in the north end Saturday morning, motored down to hunts point where the flotilla was fishing. About 30-35 boats in that area, saw no nets come out, marking very few fish, decided to head back north and troll north of Holmes point (I think that's the name). Picked up one finally at about 9 am and had to call it quits due to other activities that day. We had heard there were a lot of fish caught on Friday and we picked up that fish at nine, so optimistic about sunday once we had a fish hit a silver horde spoon in a yellow tail pattern. Thought we figured it out. Wrong.

Sunday morning on the water at first light, beautiful weather but the rain the day before made me concerned the fish got antsy and headed up the slough, or "Sammamish River" if you're newer to the area and like political correctness. Saw several fish on Saturday morning rolling in the slough and jumping, so they were already making their way to Issaquah. Spoons on all three rods, no fish up north, swapped out some gear, still nothing. Went over to magnuson, few boats over there. Nothing. Went to Hunts, nothing. Went back to north end, nothing. Boats were spread out today more than Saturday. Got back to Kenmore launch around 11 and spoke with fish checker. Said he checked in two fish the day before, sad, sad, sad. We had made wagers about how many fish were checked in on Saturday and we were sad to hear we were the lottery winners along with one other person. Really wish more people would've had luck. Sunday at 11 when we pulled out he had checked in exactly zero fish. Awesome. I like many people in this state am very frustrated. I'm here because my family lives here and I work here, but if some things don't change in this state I sure as hell won't live here after I retire. The more I see, the less I like. And that's all the preachin' to the choir I'll do today. Good luck to everyone who ventures out and be safe. I personally am done with salmon in lake Washington, unless someday the ridiculous escapement goal for sockeye is met (350,000 in case you were curious).

Keep in mind it is still early for this particular fishery. Once the fish have spent a little time in the lake, they group up and become a bit more territorial. Right now, most fish being picked up are single fish, roaming around the lake looking for a nice spot to hang out until the conditions are right. Those lucky enough to find fish grouped up, like Hunter757, can put several on ice in short order.
