Banks was a bust !!! On the water b/4 7:00am and headed for old devil's lake area to try for a few whitefish - spent
almost two hours jigging and watching two other boats, nada for all of us, left and headed for a troll from the south
end of Steamboat rock to the end of the willows, four other boats doing the same thing, nada here for all of us too.
Headed across the lake to the west side for a troll there chasing walleye, bass (smallies) and or perch, three others
doing the same, nada here too - oh yea, almost forgot, two bites. Tried the flats, gave up at about 1:00. A lot of
dead, smelly fish floating around the lake, WDFW Research nets in various places, counted 56 dead walleye on
the bottom at the launch ramp - always nice to see where our dollars for fishing licenses go - sure hope they learn
something.

We were fishing the Million Dollar Mile that same day with only one walleye in the boat for six hours of trolling. We also saw well over twenty floating whitefish, all in about the two to four pound range. What do you think is killing these fish?

It has to be the WDFW Research nets - there were at least eight separate set of nets strung out the length of
Devil's lake. We were coming in about 1:00PM and saw the new WDFW research boat, w/radar and hard
top headed south toward the "mile" - they came out of devil's lake in a hurry. I tried a couple of calls
yesterday to the regional offices of WDFW to find out who, what, why, etc., and I might as well have been
talking to a door knob. I couldn't find anything on the WDFW website(s) about any project in the lake.
The walleye on the bottom at the launch ramp were in the 9-13" range and must
have been unlucky enough to have swam into the nets and they just threw them overboard before retrieving
their boat. My guess is they don't check the nets every day, hence the die off/dead fish.

thanks guys for updated reports. I went out there on 9/18/16. Same story. There must be a bass tournament went on. A lot of fishing boats, a lot of excitement.....toot bad no fish!!!!!Tons of tons dead white fish float around. We fished from 6:00 am to 1:30 pm. Not a single Walleye, or a perch....only two unfortunate small mouth and a recent released baby trout. Talked to other fishermen and woman, fishing had been tough for last week!!a lot of disgruntled walleye fishermen. They had been manipulating water level too much lately, and dumping foreign fishes to the lake. Alien probably brought in unknown illness. The lake has been ruined!!!! I can not see how the fishery there will recover soon.
