Started the day on Fazon in Whatcom County but the whitecaps. wind and algae made it a short visit. Thought about Whatcom since I was right there but meh, I didn't want to fish smallmouth. Decided to double back towards home and run Highway 9 and look at Clear, Big and McMurray. Well I didn't make it past the first stop, Clear Lake was looking fairly calm and the water had decent visibility so off I went.
Jumped from spot to spot on the first lap throwing Senko's on the pads and to the edges and throwing jigs and mojo rigs and working them out to 20'. One nibble deep but the wacky rigged Senko on the pads was interesting so I messed with that for a bit. I kind of frog fished it, I would cast into the pad field, drag it and pause it at any opening no matter how small, or, I would get it to the edge and kill it when it cleared. This resulted in a few misses but also several dinks, a 2.0ish and a 2.7lber, now that I'm throwing this on 30lb braid I can get away with a lot more.
As the sun set out came the Strike King Double Buzz and I shifted into high gear! Missed 2 small fish but as I was headed for the park I caught rings near a piling to my left....burned the buzz back to the boat and casted in that direction....BOOM! Biggie! She took off for the bottom, then the back of the boat, than another run and finally after ensuring she was hooked good I grabbed the line and lipped her 6.2lbs! Five casts later and one that felt 5 nailed me but came unbuttoned shortly there after, needless to say the adrenaline was pumping and I ran from spot to spot again until it was dark and time to go.
Very fun day, uploading the video to YouTube so I can relive it! Which is probably all I will have time to do since when I went to put the boat away I'm pretty sure I dropped reverse in my truck as I was backing into the shop :(
