Weather forecast was for gusts up to 30 mph.
Got to the lake at 0600 and the lake was glass, one other boat had already launched.
Headed out and started looking for fish with the sonar.
Pretty much scattered all over with no big schools.
Decided to troll while I looked around.
Bass rod on the tulle side of the raft, square bill shallow bluegill plug. Green woolly bugger with front prop on the ultra lite on the lake(deep) side of the raft.
First bass was twice the size of the lure. Picked up one more about 10".
Wooley bugger picked up 3 nice crappie.
Found a 12" 1# bass hiding under a log. While I was weighing and taking the picture the wind started to swirl around the lake.
Released the bass and the wind was starting to pickup fast out of the north.
I was on the north end of the lake, so I started heading back to the ramp keeping close to the tules.
I was drifting with the Wooley bugger with the wind. When my speed hit 2 mph drifting with the wind and the whitecaps forming it was time to crank up the Minn Kota to 5 and run with the wind back to the boat launch.
Got pretty ugly out there really fast. Thankfully the boat ramp was partially protected.
Turned a hard right and got it on the cement ramp.
Prefer to not repeat that adventure again.
Needless to say I was back in time to watch the Hawk game.
Go Hawks what a domineering performance!!
Headed to Fish lake tomorrow morning. Have never fished for bass there. Should get my trout limit quick so I can drop them off at the folks house in Sultan on the way home.
Will try for some bass.. Fish lake has a lot of awesome cover. Could be a hoot!
