This report is for both 9/4 and 9/5.

After looking at fishindoc's reports and needing to find a getaway spot, my wife and I with another couple left to Deep Lake for an over night camping trip. Not being there in 18 years, I couldn't wait to get on the water.

As soon as we hit the drop off in depth, we put our downriggers at 60 and 50 with extra rods stacked 15 feet above each ball. Pink and orange wedding rings were the ticket behind multi-blade flashers. Doubles almost every time we hit the school made for a zoo of people jumping around on the boat.

Definitely periods of fish being hungry and not. Early morning yield a good bite, as well as noon and 3:00 p.m.

Like fishindoc says, you looks twice of what you hook but makes for fun fishing!

I would be camping at sunlakes camp ground. I see that there are a bunch of lakes there..any others worth a launch?

Yes Park lake is right there and now has no limit on any species as they are treating it after October 28th~ There are some big browns lurking in there as well as plenty of smb and lmb! Deep lake is great just beware of the slippery launch but with all these reports and no mention of it, should not be as much of a problem as it used to be!

Sure is a slick ramp. Always has been for some reason. If your tires are in the water while using the launch, your gonna need to put your rig in 4x4 to get out. Tons of hornets up there right now as well, beware!!
