So we headed over the mountains last weekend for my wife's family annual birthday bash in Ephrata as she shares the same birthday with her brother but with a spread of 15 years so had a great bbq with all of the extended family members coming from Moses lake to Wenatchee. My brother in law Scott had just got a smokin' deal on a boat and was excited to take me fishing, so we talked the ladies into letting us take the boat for a spin Sunday morning- and of course brought along some fishing gear! Now the wind was whipping Saturday night so wasn't sure if we would even be fishing Sunday morning but low and behold the morning dawned with just a breeze moving the trees!

Scott said they had been nailing the LMB over by crab creek and may get into some walleye too so were up at 5 am and were rolling towards the Potholes at 5:30 and greeted by a beautiful sunrise! Got to the state park and motored over to some of the islands to throw some top baits cranks at the shallows~ we worked our way around some shallow water and little islands and Scott got the first bass of the day! Turned out to be the last as next we hooked about 5 catfish on crank baits! Go figure! We did get to see some cool wildlife included a pair of deer swimming from island to island!

Moved out to the open water and saw about 20 boats working over the water so switched our gear to walleye and started trolling in the 22' to 12' water column to see if we could get some buy eyes! Over the next 2 hours we hooked about 15 catfish and we were almost out of worms and our wives called us to get our butts back for Sunday brunch!

Oh well, it was a fun day with my brother in law to try and different type of fishing for me plus he got to know his boat a little better as well! See you on the water!

Love those Potholes and those beautiful sunrises and sunsets. In the past, my wife and I have spent many early fall days there in our Bass Tracker. Nice Skeeter boat!

Other than being the first ramp you come to when coming from the Dodson Rd., why do y'all launch at the State Park? I've launched a few times at MarDon's but the ramp angle is too shallow. The ramp at Lind Coulee is pretty nice, tho there is no dock.

I'm not sure where to launch when the water level is down very far, tho. If I was going to fish Frenchman Hills Wasteway, I'd certainly think about the SP or County ramps. I used to be able to find the Winchester Wasteway by bass boat, but the danged trees grew up so much I can't find it no mo'. Can't see my landmarks, the water tower in Moses and that big tree way over to the West. :(

Such a great Camp ground as well. I love it in that area.

Not sure since I am don't live over there but my brother in law felt this was the best ramp to use and it does have a nice dock to tie up to.

Nice report, brother. Funny, how the various species take over for a while then are supplanted by something else. That sure is a productive body of water. Take Care.
