With the wind blowing hard on Saturday I decided to opt for a short trip to the north end of Cda for pike on Sunday. The Packernut and I were on the water by 6"15 and landed the first pike by 7:05. We managed another at around 8am or so then things got real slow for us. We finished the day with 3 pike, and 2 small mouth bass. The pike hit three different baits, Frog, spinner bait and a glidin rap. Obviously no particular pattern there and all in relatively different depths. We wait all winter for the water to warm up so the pike will bite, and now we wait for the water to cool down so they will bite. Warmest water temp I saw was 70, so it is dropping and with over night lows dropping into the 40's this week, it should continue down even better. I'm looking forward to when water temps get down to the mid 50's. Then we'll have some real fun.
