Hey all, it's been a while but here goes.
So I work in the Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle and tonight after work I checked the google maps traffic and saw that it was terrible (darn Seahawks game). So I decided to just walk on down to the docks around South Lake Union with my spinning rod.
Armed with a 2" Rapala blue and orange jerkbait on a medium light spinning setup I put myself to work on and around the docks that surround the restaurants in the South Lake Union district. So in other words, this includes Daniel's Broiler, Chandler's Crab House, El Chupacabra, and I Love Sushi.
It was really warm out and there could not have been a better day to after-work fishing than today. You could see the mill-foil line in the water where it was more shallow. I mainly worked the jerk-bait above the weed-line and had a LOT of success.
After casting and working the lure for a bit I could see MULTIPLE fish attracted to the lure - the water clarity allowed me to see the fish approaching and then striking. It was SUPER fun indeed. I Highly recommend it if you find yourself in the area.
All up I C&R'ed 8 largemouth bass in a period of 90 minutes. Yes, that's right... 8 in 90 minutes. They ranged from 6"-12" in size. I could see MUCH larger bass approach the lure when working it back to the dock, yet I was not able to entice a strike.
LOADS of fun. If you find yourself working/stuck in South Lake Union I highly recommend you pack some light spinning tackle and have fun!
