Al and I headed north this morning with our wives instead of CF, our usual fishing partner. There was much more chatter coming from the back seat instead of the normal snoring we were used to hearing on the way to the lake. We launched mid lake and had lines in the water by 9:00 AM. My trolling remote would not work so it it took some drag to slow my big engine to 1.1-1.5 MPH. Within 5 minutes Judy reeled in a nice 21 incher, a great start to the day. As I was taking the required picture the fish rebelled and bounced out the back of the boat. No worries I figured with a nice fish so quickly. We worked 20-25 FOW as the weeds usually began in 18 FOW or less. Bottom bouncers/slow death rigs with various colored beads and smile blades and crawlers were our offerings. No one combination stood out today.
We ground out fish here and there through the morning. We moved further north and worked up to 30 FOW and found more fish. We called it quits at 3:00 PM after bringing a nice 22 incher in. We ended up with 24 keepers, a very respectable day and gave full credit to our wives for the success.
