I've been fishing this lake several times per week for a couple of months. There are good and bad days, but I can generally count on catching enough to have fun, and the scenery and presence of bald eagles make the trip worthwhile on even the slowest of days.
This is a great lake if you have youngsters along, as pop gear and a worm will pretty much guarantee enough small trout will find their lines to keep things interesting. Watch the regs on this one, though, because there is no minimum size on the lake, so all of those fish caught on bait count against your limit.
If you're in the mood for more fish via a catch-and-release approach, try throwing an olive Willy (with the red bead), a Thin Mint or similar fly on about 18 inches behind a Slingblade dodger. That combination produces high numbers of small-medium trout on a consistent basis.
Got a hankerin' for bigger fish? Throw a banana sinker on about three feet in front of a Power Bait Mouse Tail in white & bubblegum, and target 25'-40' in depth. The catch numbers drop considerably, but fish in the 17"+ bracket are more common. The largest fish I've seen caught that way was 22", but alas, was not on my line. Into each life a little fish envy must fall (that might be paraphrased just a little). I hear a lot of people talk about Carolina rigs and drop shots, but I guess I lack the patience to sit and plunk. Trolling slow and deep is the ticket for me, with the best fish striking on the inside of turns when the line slows and drops. Some of the best fish I've caught were within 100 yards of the boat launch on the way in...
Take care around the boat launch -- it's pretty primitive, with enough submerged timber to build a small cabin. No internal combustion motors. There is a girl scout camp on the far end of the lake, so beware the possibility you'll suddenly be joined by a dozen or more canoes or kayaks with rookie paddlers for a rousing game of dodge-boat.
