WE arrived on the 9th and planed to leave on 11th. Got to campground and put the boat in the water and headed to our spot and dropped the trailer and truck off and headed out fishing. It was noon but figured why not, headed to the north end of the lake to find a few boat fishing but no fish. The rain came the night before and the rivers were flowing filling the lake overnight bring drift wood, seemed like a more wood then boats. We fished till 6pm with two drive by's to show for it, headed to the docks no spots so we tied the boat up to a couple trees in the cove.

Got to camp set the tent up and got some dinner made and a fire going. Was a nice night had my spray to keep the bitters away, was lucky enough to not get bit once by the mosquito's. Now my son went to bed early as he was not feeling well his RA was kicking in bad. Got to bed and figured we would get a 3 am start, well 2:30 am comes to the sound of a 2 stroke heading up the lake full throttle ohhhh man....so much for peace and quite. We would up taking our time and hitting the water at 4 am.

So hit the lake headed north again to join the forces in mass searching for sockeye. The lake had raised again more wood lots and lots of wood. Hit one stick with the prop not happy as I just got it fixed, not bad but a small hit never the less. Got set up all four rods and started the troll, back and forth we went for hours and hours had a few drive by's so we knew in the right area same as last year the old lake. Anyway around 8 am or so I was looking in the box for something new to throw on and my son's says dad your rod. Turn around and my white lamiglas kokanee rod tip is in the water and then pulls the clip and runs reel is screaming this is a big fish. I grab the rod and start bring him in slowly half way to the boat another run this fish did what he wanted to do, I kept the pressure on after what seemed like 10 min a nice 6.5lb buck in the net. My son was surprised how big he was and so was I. Happy I got a Baker lake sockeye now it was time for my son. We reset the gear and kept the troll going.

We ran into a guy who forgot his DR balls at home and I always carry extra so asked if he wanted to borrow them he was all smiles and said yes. If I can help someone out why not so he came along side and I handed him a pancake and round ball both green and said good luck, I would be out all day on the lake just find me when your done. K. Off he went all smiles!!

We would troll all day with a few more drive by's and my son had two long releases it happens but he was not happy felt the weight and fight of the fish then nada.... The guy I loaned the dr weights to found me return them and said thank you he got one! Always glad to see others do well. Told him your very welcome and hope to see him again on the water.

WE called it a day around 6 pm on the water all day with one fish to show for it. My son by this time could no open his arm all the way or turn his neck so we called it a trip, I headed to camp alone as no dock space left the boy stayed on the boat in open water waiting for the truck. I broke down camp got it all packed up to go home, a BIG thank you to the neighbors for offering to help me out did not need it but the offer was all I needed to put a smile on my face!! Grab the boat and headed home arrived at 9:15 pm he got the meds he needed at home and went to bed. I stayed up and got most of gear unloaded and left the fish on ice till morning.

A great trip all around the lake was fantastic the fishing not so much but the time we had was priceless. The fish tasted great as that was dinner last night. Looking forward to our second trip at the end of the month for four days hope the fishing is better next time!

Tight lines, Eric and Adam.
