Went out thisSun/Mon with my kids to Blue Lake (Haven't been fishing there since I was a kid and figured I'd take my own kids to show them how we use to do it back in the day). Local reports (from the campers I spoke with said the fishing's been tough this year)....but we weren't too discouraged...any day fishing is better than NOT. Sunday night went out around 4pm and fished until 7pm (Trolling), with nothing but a couple of bites...the wind started up something fierce so we called it a day. We woke up on Monday to a gorgeous sunrise, calm waters, and hit the lake around 6am...and of course lost power to my fish-finder..lol.

We trolled the coast line for about an hour, switching up lures/depths/speeds and had a couple of bites but again nothing to the boat. Around 7am, we trolled back through where we seemed to have the best opportunity (South-Eastern shoreline) and finally got a fish on...woohoo! The fight was decent (I was using a light rod and it was a blast catching it). Trolled around for another hour with nothing more to show for it. We went out again later in the day to do some casting in the cove...but no luck. Unfortunately we had to head back home, so we packed it up and called it quits.

Overall, great day with my kids, but not great fishing. Trolled using a red/gold wedding ring, pink rooster tail, Gold Dick Nite spoon with about a 1/2 oz. weight on each), the Rainbow Trout was caught on the Gold Dick Nite, and came in around 16".
