We decided to drop in on Roses Lake for an hour or two before finding a place to camp for the night. It was hot again - usual for the Eastside. We tried trolling for trout, but got no bites. Without the fishfinder, we couldn't tell if there were even fish in the lake. Most of the half dozen other boats were going for bass. So we went to the edges. The lake is ringed with tall sedge. Others were not catching many, so I wasn't expecting much. I'm new at this, mostly practicing dropping my lure right to the edge of the reeds. I got a couple of bass interested and one took it - a small 10 incher - but at least it's a start.

Nice to get a bass report on Roses Lake. Wapato Lake used to be one of my favorite places to camp and fish for many years back in 80s and 90s. I have caught several fairly nice bass from Roses but my best bass in that area came from little Dry Lake. In May 1999, I caught a 5-14 largemouth from Dry Lake while fishing from my canoe. I was lucky enough to have a Mexican farm worker near by to take a photo for me. That fish hit a size 11 Rapala in the perch pattern. Wapato had some nice bass too. In June 2002, I caught a 4 pound 6 ounce largemouth there while fishing from my Bass Tracker. That fish hit a Rapala 11 s. Good Luck and keep those reports coming.

We debated on which of the 3 lakes to fish. We settled on Roses, but did try to find the ramp on Wapato on our way to Antilon. We couldn't find it - maybe because it was a sunny summer Sunday, there was a party going on in the area and cars/people were everywhere. Oh well. Next time we get over there, we'll try Wapato and Dry Lakes. Thanks for the info.
