First time to this nice little lake. Good parking and a decent boat launch. I headed out in the inflatable kayak after chatting with some regulars and started trolling a Rapala Rainbow floating minnow size 7 but not a single hit even though fish were rising everywhere. I switched to a 3" silver flasher dragging a olive and black Woolley bugger with action disc and 1/4 oz weight and instantly started catching bows...but little 7 inchers. Like every 2 minutes. After releasing each one and setting up, bam, another. So I remediation the flasher and weight and just drug the Woolley Bugger and bam, I got a nice 13" keeper. Out again and bam, another nice one. 5 minutes later it happened again. But then it went quiet and after 20 minutes I put the flasher back on but no weight and quickly picked up the last two keepers for a limit. But the story doesn't end there. I went to this lake to try to catch my first large mouth bass and was told this was the place to do it. In the shallows I could see the occasional bass and tossing out a Texas rig I was getting them to take it but I never could set the hook in time and never got one. I also tried some mid water and top buzz baits but only the Texas rig got hits. So I am determined to go back and try again soon!!!
