Unexpectedly had the day off so I ran up to Clear. Was raining when I launched and I started the day throwing a swimming frog. After 30 minutes of not so much as spooking a bass I switched to a 3/8th oz spinnerbait, 15 minutes of that through some awesome stuff with no action and I switched to a Senko....seriously? Still nothing!
Stopped, re-rigged a couple rods and changed tactics a bit. Put on a modified 1/4oz Stanley spinnerbait with a small minnow body I rigged on with a clip, a weighted Senko and a floating Rapala and went back through the area I just fished. First hook up was on the floating Rapala, dink, followed by another and then a pounder, then it died off a bit. Threw the spinner for a bit and got a couple misses, again fish were blowing up on fry everywhere, tried throwing a few baits to them but nothing doing. Decided to swap the Senko out for a fluke and things started to happen. 5th cast and lost one about 3.5-4lbs. Caught a few more pounders and it slowed up so I moved to a new area. Caught the 3.3 on the spinner bait on the outside edge of the lily pads so I continued down the pads picking up a few more smaller fish. The wind picked up pretty good and the smaller baits became difficult to cast accurately so I moved out over the submerged vegetation and threw a bit larger weighted fluke and a crankbait. Fished a couple drop offs this way as well but decided to call it at about 2pm.
