We hiked to Mowich lake on Saturday and of course I packed my pole. The lake was surrounded by snow and the water was crystal clear but no fish in the shallows. The wife went to spend time with her girlfriends that night so I took the boy out to Tanwax to try to catch something. With the warm weather I knew the lake would be packed with jet skis and boaters but it beat sitting around the house.

As we arrived, a guy and his son were coming off the lake with a stringer full of nice crappie. We got on the water at 7 and started trolling up the lake about 10-15ft deep. We got no action by the time we reached the end of the lake so I switched to a Rebel mini crawfish and the boy wanted the Rebel cricket. We had to have the boat back by 8:30 so by the time we were half way back I figured we needed to hurry so I cranked the motor to 5 and left my line out just in case. The water was 77 degrees so I didn't figure the trout would be active but a few minutes later my pole doubles over and I have a good fighter on! Ended up being a 13 inch feisty fish. I kept it in the water and released it and let out more line. A few minutes later, another fighting 12 incher on! Released in the water again and then back to the dock.

I was surprised to catch anything with the traffic on the lake and the temp. I've caught more fish on that Rebel crawfish than any other lure. Again, sure beats sitting home in the heat.
