Arrived at 9 am. There was perhaps 7 or 8 trailers in the lot. one fellow, was loading up to leave. He had limited in an hour, and lost some. I put in, and motated to the far end of the lake. I had fairly consistent action. Tryed a few different setups. All produced hits. Near all my hits, were not nibbles. They meant it.! I fished mostly in water over 80' deep, and down 45'. I saw schools at various depths. around 30, 50, 60, and even 70'. Fishing at 30, produced smaller fish, and some trout. The deeper, 60, gave me my largest. a 13". Two 12", and two 11". They are growing. eating well. I finally used up all of last seasons kokes, smoking up a wad, and brought them to a wedding. They all sqwealed with delight. lol. I lost my share of fish today. I was done, done, by like 1230. My usual setup, was my mainstay. the doc special. seps hammered nickle, with diamond tape. five inch leader, of double hooks, with two small red beads, and two kernals, on the top hook. rear hook, is red, #4 octopus, front, a #2 drop shot. When i got back to the launch, me, one other boat, were loading up. all the rest, were gone. so, i take it, they all limited. The two old farts that were loading up, had trolled with fly outfits, split shot, and wooley buggers. they had some really nice size trout.

Well done!! It seems the deeper you go at this lake the better the size of fish and also keeps the RB's off for the most part. Way to make quick work of them. What do you use for a brine? and how long do you smoke your for?

Thanks,
Eric

as of late, i have changed my brine. i chunk my fish. cut each one, into three chunks. i mix 3/4 cup of salt, with two cups of brown sugar. no liquid. toss the fish well with this. leave for like 8 hours. rinse off well. and, as for chips, i gave up on them. i now use red devil pellets! no shit. thy them. one pan of them, is all you need. and, ten times cheaper. and, so much tastier. time in the smoker, allways depends on temp, humidity, etc. generally, 8 hours. corn. if i use wizard egg cure on it, its obviously red. but the rest, i so far, dont dye. just krill/anise. or shimp/anise. or garlic. or bloody tuna. -that one brings back some memories...
