Fished hard with crankbaits, plastics on dropshots, jigs, spinnerbaits and senkos but no luck. Weather was sunny and temps in the 50's. Water temp was 62-63 degrees in areas that were 20 feet or less. Tried looking for beds, but the water clariy was pretty awful, especially the farther south you went on the lake. Tracked a few schools of bait fish and had a tiny smallmouth follow a crankbait to the surface but nothing biting. Another group of fishermen we met at the dock said things were slow too, although they still caught and/or hooked a few smallmouth and one musky. Had some strong winds out of the north, and clear blue skies the day after a cold front moved through. Not exactly the ideal fishing conditions.
Later in the trip we scouted the flats near the boat launch to see if we could spot any beds. Nada. Two hours of driving and $15 later we had nothing to show for. Second time getting skunked on Tapps. Maybe the 3rd time's got the charm we need. Come back in July.
