Was planning on trying for walleye on either soda or evergreen this weekend but with the winds I wasn't up for the challenge. Looked up a few lakes where the wind might not be as much of a factor and found deep lake as I read it has Kokanee. Deep lake is a lake in the dry falls/sun lakes state park. Real pretty lake with clean jade waters surrounded by tall cliffs that plunge to 100ft. Arriving to the park and as I start driving onto to the trail that leads to the boat launch I see a flock of turkeys running across the road and several deer hopping across the road or others just feeding on the side. By now I'm thinking well if I don't hook any oh well the scenery in was just enough to be pleased with my decision. Now to the fishing launch the boat and it's only me and other couple getting ready to launch. To my surprise the couple was also running a raft. Head out straight to where the number 2 is on the cliffs and begin my troll. I drop down to around 20ft on both rods using blade flashers pink wedding ring on one and pink hoochie with spinner on the other. About 45 minutes in I hook a small Kokanee and that was it for the 20ft depth. Decided to drop down to 30 and that's where the fun began. I started at 7 and finished at 10 hooking and losing several fish every 15-30 minutes before I was able to land my limit of Kokanee. Great fighters with a few jumping out of the water and others diving deep.
