Thought I'd head out to Beaver Lake this morning around 930 AM before work to try my luck for an hour or so. At the park there were already some fellas out by the picnic tables on the point so I trudged over to the shoreline opening a bit further south.
The pad growth has come back and it's always good to see that the bass were quite active and so were the sunfish. I watched one in particular as it wove through the pads and you could see it's dorsal fin peaking out of the water. Sunfish were actively feeding on the surface as indicated by the distinctive slurp and water rings all around the edges of the pad field.
I fished off the bottom carolina-rigged with some brand new 30" leaders I tied a few nights before baited with orange sparkle power eggs. 3rd cast and I bring in a nice 13" bow with great dark speckled coloring.
On my 2nd rod I also tried for bass by floating/twitching a small light blue Rapala floating minnow near the pad field. I had two surface contacts and missed them both.
All in all, a good way to start a day before work!
tight lines!
