Man was it chilly today! Ridiculous. Anyway, I ran up to Terrell today to check the weed growth and see how my new set up would work in the thick stuff? I started out on the outer edges of the pads on the launch side as these fish are done spawning and should be moving out deeper to recover. Didn't encounter anything for about an hour. The water was stained I imagine from the rain we've had? I decided to go fish the reed islands for a bit even though the are a little shallow. Had the first action of the day here, had about a 3lber jump clear up and over my bait as it cleared the reeds! Maybe he forgot to open his mouth or was blind?

Left that area for the far side and headed straight in and through the reeds and man did the new motor chew that crap up and spit it out!! Awesome :)

Got down by the outlet and into the really thick reddish brown grass, that stuff is thick and nasty! I got in the channel and worked out towards deeper water casting in, to and through the reeds that line the channel. This picked up fish number 1 after I downsized a swim jig and changed to a brighter color due to the stain. That fish hit on the edge of the reeds and went 2.0lbs.

There were two boats on the west side so I motored back over towards the islands. En route I decided to go past and fish the large pad field around the corner from the launch. Stopping just before them I fished an isolated reed clump and bang! Big fish! She went under the boat, ripped through the reeds and grass and finally showed her face and I grabbed her! 5.6lbs! That was awesome. Fished the pad field and only managed to spook a couple small fish until I motored back out to deeper water and fished more isolated vegetation nabbing my last fish of the day a 4.4lber.

Truck therm said 58* but it felt every bit of 45! I left before dark so I'm not sure if the evening topwater bite picked up?

Flipped, tried topwater, spinnerbaits and jigs but the 1/4oz swim jig did the trick for the most part. A couple more things I would have liked to try but I get distracted playing with the new gadgets.

Nice pics! You should have posted a couple of that new boat -- It sounds great. I had a weed guard on my old Bass Tracker electric that worked pretty good.

You catch any of those geeses? lol

Yup, had a plastic round funnel weed guard on the electric motor on my first boat, worked pretty good.

TWO BIGGIES in one day, that's great, congrats. The new boat is sure broke in proper.

Thanks!

I ordered one of the Ninja Grass Blades to try out, I think that combined with the power of this Motorguide and I could go up on land if I wanted to?! lol
