Decided to fish Black Lake on Saturday. Kayak in the water at 10am, we started out looking for crappie, but couldn't keep the trout off no matter what we threw in the water, so we switched our target fish. Keeping only the bigger bows, we took all day to limit. They liked red hard lures, but the best was a spin fly with red body. Size ran from 11" to 14" and fairly fat. Most of the released fish were at least 11". Should be more trout over 14" by summer. Several dead fish on the water attracted young eagles learning to swoop down to grab them. Fun to watch them take several passes before they found success. Always fun to watch the big birds! Tight lines.
