Went to Lake Terrell today got to lake about 9am and started fishing about 9:15am after I jetted to other side of the lake. It was windy and was hoping rain would hold off.
Brought 3 poles this time with heavier line 10lb test 8lbs and 12lbs. Spinnerbait, swim jig and usual top water minnow perch in larger size. Hard to do much casting while getting blown around. Spinnerbait just catches weeds and swim jig wasn't doing much better. Had a few little hits on top water minnow when I could find a place to sit for more then a few seconds. So windy, waters warm, and lots of weeds...put on a buzz bait. Sure enough about fourth cast as soon as it hit the water fish on! Good fight and had to find my drag on bait cast reel. He was hooked solid and got him in with just one jump. Nice 14" largemouth good way to start got him about 10:30am. Had some more hits on top water looked liked bluegills or sunfish by hits not really taking the minnow. Sure enough on cue had two boats come cruising by looked like they were trolling or just looking for a spot...I was closer to shore in the pads when cast my minnow to open spot one move and bam fish on...he went down and fought well. Got him in about 3 ft of water so had a good struggle. Landed him and he swallowed the minnow. Nice 15" bass they are getting bigger! And nice to have an audience...but these guys wouldn't leave me alone...I moved a bit down the lake they had to be 20 ft from me and one guy every other word was F this or F that...think on a 440 acre lake with 4 boats on it you could set up some where else??? I finally had to move couldn't take the stupid talk. I have been to this lake twice and both times had people decided to get right on top of where I am. I don't get it this lake attract morons or what?
Wind picked up and fishing got tougher...caught two bluegill on top water minnow and had about 6 or 7 more hits. I finally gave up when I got blown into the weeds. This lake you need one person to guide the boat for you while you fish or one of those foot controlled motors.
I gave up at 12:30pm and worked my small boat back to the boat launch rolling over rollers and taking on water as I went. Did see some bald eagles fishing for their young and was by the nest and you could hear the new babies chirping.
Have to try again when its a calm day or maybe a weekday with less drinking fisherman.
Got two nice largemouths 15" and 14" and two bluegill's 6-7".
All fish catch and released.
