Very slow to bite today, bunches of nips from little fish. The first fish caught there was a little nip, nothing on the hookset. Cast back in, another little nip. Did a slower/lighter hook set and little fish on. Kept the pressure to it, it swam slightly, then woke up. She swam around a bit thrashing on top. BIG fish! Got her in the boat, she weighed 4.32Lbs. A Largie on a worm. Breeze blew the boat in while I was taking the picture and weighing her - no bed.
More nips from little fish under docks, and in the weeds. Nothing hooked up for awhile.
1 hour later got a 9 incher in the boat, a Largie on the worm.
Nothing on the crankbait or topwater.
But another hour and 12 minutes later another fishie in the boat, slow bite I didn't feel, Smallie at 3.41 lbs.
I'm going there tomorrow with my buddy. Think it's post spawn already? We will be there about 530 in his boat. A ranger with a Yamaha. It seems to be past spawn at tapps. Water is about the same temp.
Quite a few are done spawning, some still spawning into late May and even June. I've seen beds into July. BassinBomber even saw a new bed in Aug. a few years ago. But for the most part they seem to be done.
