Many thanks to Mike, Aaron, Randy and and all of the NWFR crew for another great Chelan camp out and get together. Many thanks to the sponsors for their support and goodie bags of tackle and other stuff. Randy (rseas) and family did another great fish taco dinner on Saturday with all sorts of other great food brought along by all who attended.
I joined forces with Bryan (fish dawg), and his daughter the fish princess for another great camping and fishing trip. Got all set up at the beautiful Chelan State Park late Thursday night.
A little slow to roll out to fish Friday morning but hey "those fish live there" right? Fished down from the park and out in the middle by Wapato point. Managed 8 kokes the first day with some dandy's to about 16".
Saturday Day Two: Bryan wanted to be on the water before daylight; can you imagine such a thing? Low and behod there was Mike with his new boat putting in right behind us. Apparently we are not the only kokanee crazed fishermen! Mike struggled but got to christen his new boat with kokanee blood; congrats!! We started with lead core fished in the top 15' (three colors) and began to score kokes right away just down from the park. Maybe we are onto something here? We left the lead core outfits in camp Friday, big mistake. Continued to catch fish, maybe not quite as big as yesterday but really nice with some bigger ones thrown in. We had an absolute fish fest with a laker thrown in for good measure. Finished our limit of thirty kokanee before noon, what a day!!
Fished Sunday morning finishing with nine kokes and all but one on lead core. What a great weekend with beautiful weather, great friends, willing fish and did I mention GREAT food. Life is so good, we have much to be thankful for.
Tight lines - Alan
