I was able to get out on Sunday afternoon and chase some crappies on Long. It was a bit windy and rainy at times but I caught quite a few crappies. I targeted a couple of fallen trees and docks that normally produce this time of year. I caught over 40 crappies using a drop shot and 1/32 oz. jig, both had Berkeley 2 inch power minnows on them. I kept 27 between 9 and 10 inches and released the rst to grow just a little bigger. I also caught 4 squaw dogs, 3 smallies and 3 perch. The visibility is about 1 1/2 feet and most of the crappies were caught in 10 to 15 FOW. A very lite crappie bite; basically I watched my line and when it stopped early I set the hook. I am glad I have the anchor system on my Terrova because the way the wind was blowing I spent quite a bit of time fishing out of the back of the boat. 2/3's of a 5 gallon bucket is a good haul any day.
