Fished Antilon Lake for browns on 4/20 and 4/21.

Haven't caught a brown trout since 1978 in the Gallatin River in Montana. Made up for lost time, however!

What a pretty lake, except for a bit of litter, very quiet and scenic..no motors...lovely.

The weather was ideal, no wind, water temp was 61...quite warm for April, but it definitely turned on the brown trout. My son River and I found them all over the small lake, all in the top ten feet. We trolled (rowed) primarily, cast a bit also. We used 1/8th oz brown trout finish Thomas Buoyants (copper back) and 1/8th ounce copper blade/red body/black tail Rooster Tails on 6 pound mainline.

It was far better than we could have imagined!! Started in the late afternoon first day, found browns from 13 to 17 inches keying on spoons, then next morning they only wanted Rooster Tails, either cast or slowly rowed. Never had a single lull in action, landed 25, had at least twice as many bites.

Saw only a few other anglers, trolling flies, also doing very well. Camping spots along the lake, too. The fish are gorgeous, fight ok but mostly strikes are ferocious. Most of the few we kept had bright red meat!

Sorry no pics, I do not know how to post them. Took some amazing snaps, however. I recommend this place highly, very happy we went!! Fly rods next time.

Nice to get a report on Antilon Lake. I fished it a couple times looking for bass when I was camping at Wapato Lake. It is a pretty little lake in a scenic area.
