I went back to Beaver Lake Park this morning to see if the bows were still biting with the heat we've had the last few days. I got my line in the water at sunrise (6:20). Fishing again from the point and casting towards the boat launch on the other side. 3 1/2 ft leader, small hook and single chartreuse gulp egg in garlic. Nothing for 30 minutes so decided to move up a hook size and put two eggs on. Got a nice 12" bow right away. Reset and got another about 15 minutes later. This one had the hook deep and I got it out with pliers but didn't realize I nicked the line so on the next hook up the bow jumped and broke the leader. Stupid mistake! Got things rebuilt and then had a light hit and then a runner. Hooked in and...well this is the fish story part of the report...it was strong. It kept running and I didn't want to horse it in but just as I got a good look at this beauty it turned quickly and out came the hook. Darn...biggest rainbow I've ever had on. Bummer but had a great time battling it. Saw others out also reeling in some nice ones.
