Newbie so please excuse any mis-steps in writing my first report. It has been 25+ years since I've been fishing and I decided it was time to get it going again. In my research I found this great resource and have been looking at the hotspot reports. So with some good comments about Beaver Lake I headed there this morning and arrived at bit before 7am at Beaver Lake Park. As I walked in I noticed one other fisherman on the shore reeling in a trout as I walked by and headed to the point. While getting organized I saw him catch a second. OK, if I don't get something then I'm doing it wrong. I put together a light weight and about 3 feet of 3lb leader with a small egg hook and put on a Chartreuse Berkely Gulp egg in Garlic scent. Casted out and within 10 minutes had my first fish. a nice little 8" bow. Repeating this setup and casting back out to a slightly different point I got another about 9" a bit later. This continued with 2 more being a 10" and 11 1/2" and hoping to get my limit the bite stopped. Tried changing baits and leader length but nothing. So after 2 hours I packed it in and headed home to clean up these pretty little fish. Super excited to be back out relaxing next to a lake and enjoying the morning. Thanks everyone who posts reports which help out folks like me!

Nice catch! What kind of hooks were you using?

They were #10 eagle claw bait hooks. Pretty small but just the right size for the Gulp egg to mostly hide the hook and light enough to still float.

franzjmartin - thank you! So you use 1 egg? I been out there, also caught a limit, but I used size 6 hook and 2 eggs. Trouts I got 9" 9.5" 10" 11" and 11.5"

Yeah, 1 egg. I started with a larger hook and 2 eggs and was getting a lot of hits but not hooking any of them so I switched to the smaller hook and single egg and started catching. In both setups I had the hook tip exposed.

Not that i'm a fishing Nazi but......funny how all these Beaver Lake Reports are coming in before opening day for lowland trout season. lol. Is Beaver lake different? Hopefully there's still some easy trout left for those of us that follow the rules. ;) Just having fun, i assume most people just aren't even aware.
