On the way back from Lacamas and a fish fry visit with relatives, we decided to check out Silver Lake. Pulled up to the WDFW ramp to find a neat row of a dozen trucks/boat trailers. Never been here before and discovered I left the lake map at home. To add insult to injury, the battery for the sounder died on Lacamas. Ventured out in the yak anyway. Figured we could at least explore, hoping we don't get lost. We paddled a few canals, hoping to find the crappie. Others were asking if we had come across any, so I guess they were hiding. We're new to this lake and crappie fishing in general. In 5 hours, noon to 5pm, the only fish caught were a couple of 5" perch. Did have a few small nibbles in the canals and trout bites out in front of the boat ramp, just for fun. We'll be back better prepared next time. Be safe and tight lines. LLAP (Live Long and Paddle)
